Purpose, Limitations and Catagory Definitions of the NE Development Map
Purpose of the Map. This map is for the Northeast community to use as a tool to take more leadership in its future development. The map is meant to provide a strategic view of the scope and volume of development and redevelopment in Northeast. It is a snapshot good until the date of its last update. We encourage neighborhood groups, government staff, elected officials, and other interested parties to use it as a way to look at development in Northeast as a whole and to ask, “What is best for all of Northeast?”
Limits of the information:
Reality testing:
This map is constantly being reviewed by people with a variety of perspectives; probably the most valuable of which is a deep knowledge of Northeast. Sometimes, data from the City or elsewhere is inaccurate or incorrect. This is why local reality testing is essential. If you spot something on this map that should be corrected, please let us know.
Development Category Definitions
Potential: These sites are best thought of as opportunities. It could be for a major rehab, a conversion of use (most typically to housing), or redevelopment. Many of these sites are privately owned, so the decision is up to the owner. However, from a common sense point of view, we believe these sites have potential.
Planned: These are sites for which we have direct knowledge of plans for development or redevelopment.
Pending: These are projects that have applications into the powers that be.
New owner/current: These are sites with new owners who are either actively developing or redeveloping the site, or who have recently finished the project.
